Review of the Hickies Elastic Shoe Lacing System

When I first heard of Hickies, I thought they would be perfect for me since I have a mobility issue and it's hard for me to tie my shoes. I also thought they would be great for my grandson, who hasn't learned to tie his shoes yet. These elastic laces are sleek, flexible, and easy to use.

The main problem I had was getting the laces adjusted so my shoes weren't too tight. There are several different ways to use them, and the Hickies website has several great ideas and examples on how to lace up shoes. I received two sets of laces and instructions on how to use them.

So far I like the laces and like I said earlier, I had to tweak them a little to figure out how to make them comfortable and not too tight. For my grandson, I just used the regular technique on his tennis shoes and that worked just fine for him. He also thought they were "cool" and liked how they looked. He wanted to try them on before I finished putting the last few laces in the shoes, but this is how they looked on his feet.

Overall, I would say this is a fun and ingenious product, it was definitely a big hit with my grandson. As for my shoes, it is a lot easier to just slip them on, but I would probably opt for a different color (there are several to choose from). There are laces available for adults and children, but the ones they sent me worked just fine on my grandson's shoes.

They are currently having a holiday sale, so if you're interested in checking out the Hickies lacing system, check them out here and check out this special offer:

Although Hickies sent me the two sets of elastic laces for review, all opinions are strictly my own.

Blogging, Writing, and Social Media

With everything that's been going on, I've neglected my blog for awhile. I've been busy writing for Inquisitr and editing the stories I already have for my next book. I've also been trying to build up my social media platforms. Some are getting there, while others are new. I'm going to try to do a lot more with the blog, I enjoy writing how I like to write on my blog and plan to do more in the future.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, looking forward to so much coming up with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!

Josh Gates is back!

I've enjoyed watching Gates and his antics clear back to when he was on Destination Truth on the Syfy channel.

The adventurer extraordinaire posted to his Facebook page on September 30, "One week from today...Expedition Unknown is BACK!" Fans enjoy his playful sense of fun and adventure and can't wait for the show's return. Read more here!

My Latest Book

So I'm almost finished with my third book, which is a book of zombie-themed short stories. The book will be titled "Tainted Ladies" and each story's prominent character is female. I'm pleased with the stories, a few could even be expanded into full novels. Will just have to see if that's something I want to do at a later time. Right now I'm so busy with writing for two news sites that I don't have much time for the book I'm doing now. I'm also watching my newest grandson four mornings a week.  Staying busy makes me happy though, so it's all good.

I want to finish this book before Halloween, it would be perfect timing, stay tuned to see if that is something I can accomplish. When it is finished, I'm planning on doing some big sales on the other books and who knows, I may have a little launch party. I am trying to dedicate the weekends to nothing but writing the stories.

Update on my writing

Late last September, I started doing some writing for a few sites - namely Examiner and Daily Two Cents. I write reality TV stories for one and for the other I just write about any TV show that's trending or one where there's a lot of interest. I've had a lot of fun with it so far, but it leaves little time for writing stories for my third book. I shelved the book for awhile, will probably finish it up around October. I have most of the stories fully or two-thirds finished for the book (I'm doing a collection of short stories with a zombie theme and the protagonist in each one is female). I do have one more story I want to write, however.

I've actually made some money writing TV news and like I said, I find it fun. Sometimes it's hard to find time to write since my daughter, son-in-law, 5-yr-old grandson, and infant grandson live with us right now (oh yeah, and their 100 lb chocolate lab, Buzz). I keep busy and I do like that, but sometimes it's hard to find the time.

I imagine things will slow down eventually and in the end I'll get everything done. I'm enjoying my family right now and some day I'll probably wish for these days again, when the boys were little and so much fun. So for now, that's how things are going, and the important stuff will always get done first. :D

Huge Update!

Been so busy, haven't posted for awhile, but I have big news! Zombified Book Two: Shady Oaks has been released! Not only that, but I am having a summer sale! The first book is now .99 cents and book two is only $2.99. Available on almost any ereader. Amazon hasn't updated yet, but should soon.

I am working on book #3 - will be comprised of several short stories (zombie of course!). Already 20k words written...I'm really enjoying writing different stories.

What's next? I'm just about ready to begin another book, this time it will be a Young Adult/Adult spinoff of the Zombified books featuring Bitsy Jones and her young friends. Someone in her group will surprise readers.
